He is the founder and president of BeoBasket, the highest-ranked basketball management agency globally. In addition to this, he is also a certified and highly regarded FIBA agent. Early Life and Education
Miodrag “Miško” Ražnatović was born on September 16, 1966, in Kruševac, a city located in central Serbia, known for its rich history and cultural heritage. His parents, both educators, devoted their careers to teaching, which greatly influenced Miško’s personal development and the values he adopted growing up.
He spent his childhood in a neighborhood known as “Staro dvorište,” a hub of children’s games and sports activities. It was on the makeshift basketball courts in this area that Miško took his first basketball steps. These courts often hosted informal tournaments and served as a breeding ground for a passion for sports.
He received his primary education at Vuk Karadžić Elementary School in Kruševac, where teachers quickly recognized his curiosity and aptitude for analytical thinking. Throughout his school years, he stood out not only academically but also in extracurricular activities, especially in sports. His dedication and discipline were already evident during these formative years.
Alongside his academic commitments, Miško continued to nurture his passion for basketball. He participated in numerous local tournaments, where his talent became increasingly apparent. His leadership ability, understanding of the game, and technical skills distinguished him among his peers.
Founding of His Law Firm
After completing primary school, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade, graduating with a law degree in 1988. His decision to study law was driven by a desire to gain a deeper understanding of social systems and justice. During his studies, he successfully balanced his academic obligations with his basketball career, demonstrating exceptional dedication and organizational skills.
Four years after graduating, he opened his own law office and began practicing law. Notably, in 2009, he represented Serbian football manager Radomir Antić in contract negotiations with the Football Association of Serbia. Through his agency BeoBasket, Miško primarily represents basketball players and coaches, as well as American players competing in Europe. In the 2017/18 EuroLeague season, his agency represented 35 players and was ranked as the top agency in Europe. This success and reputation attracted even more talent, and today the agency represents a total of 52 players.
It’s worth noting that Nikola Jokić. Now the NBA’s top player was discovered by Miško Ražnatović when Jokić was just 17. Miško recognized his talent early on, took him under his wing, and the rest is history.
Basketball Career
Miodrag “Miško” Ražnatović was once a talented basketball player himself. Throughout his playing career, he competed for several clubs in the former Yugoslavia, including Napredak Kruševac, FMP, Radnički Belgrade, and Ulcinj.
While building his legal career, Ražnatović continued to play basketball, which allowed him to establish contacts and gain experience that would later prove invaluable in the management world. His firsthand experience as a player, combined with his legal education, enabled him to understand the needs and challenges faced by professional athletes. Founding of Mega
In 2004, Ražnatović took over the basketball club Avala Ada, which was later renamed KK Mega. His goal was to create an environment where young, talented players could grow and develop. Over the years, Mega became renowned for nurturing young athletes and helping them reach top European clubs and the NBA.
The club has competed in various competitions, including the Serbian Basketball League and the ABA League. Although Mega is best known for developing players, it has also achieved notable on-court success. For instance, in the 2015/2016 season, Mega won the Radivoj Korać Cup, marking one of the club’s greatest achievements.
Mega is also known for its innovative approach, including frequent collaborations with sponsors that have led to multiple name changes. Despite this, the club has remained committed to its mission of youth development and giving players the chance to perform at a high level. Through its efforts, KK Mega has become synonymous with successful player development, offering a pathway to professional careers at the highest levels and none of this would have been possible without the man we’re profiling today.
Family Life
Little is known about his private life, but it is publicly known that he is married to Vanja Ražnatović, a respected doctor. Together, they have a daughter, Maša (22). As the saying in Serbia goes, “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, Maša has already followed in her father’s footsteps and is playing basketball for Art Basket, a Belgrade-based club founded in 2009. This young Serbian player is also very popular on Instagram under the handle masha4raznatovic, with over 35,000 followers at the time of writing, thanks both to her looks and the engaging content she shares.
